In the past, we have already supported the children of this community, most recently in 2025 with the 'Playfully Strong in Laos' project, which provided equipment for the schoolyard of the 87 school children. During a visit in September 2025, we were able to see first-hand the improved quality of life on site. Access to clean water is now the next logical step to build upon these successes. Without a safe supply, children in particular suffer from illnesses, which makes regular school attendance difficult. Additionally, the current situation at the school remains challenging, as some classrooms consist of simple bamboo structures. Our goal: Sustainable support for school and village. With the Sodsai Project, we are closing the critical supply gap in the village through targeted support for the local population. Out of a total of 148 families, 79 households currently still lack access to running water; the project will now connect these exact families directly to the supply system. This will immediately benefit the students as well as the entire community through improved hygiene. Under the direction of construction manager Somlath Vongsipheuth, we are installing a system designed to last for at least 15 years. To ensure long-term sustainability, we focus on local ownership: the village community will be trained by our local partner and will handle the maintenance of the system independently in the future. By securing this vital basic need, we are establishing the foundation for a healthier future for all 748 residents of Thien Khien.
