Future Nabdam

Securing sustainable incomes for 1,000 families in Northern Ghana through professional guinea fowl breeding.

With the grateful support of the funding program bwirkt! of the Foundation for Development Cooperation Baden-Württemberg (SEZ), this project in Ghana is set to be successfully realized. Despite difficult framework conditions caused by the pronounced dry season, the construction of the urgently needed guinea fowl breeding house in Nabdam is being vigorously pushed forward. The new facility serves as a central economic and educational hub for over 1,000 vulnerable subsistence farmers. Following the recent 'Multidimensional Poverty Report,' which demonstrated a massive need for action in this region—the lowest-income area—the planned measures can now be implemented with precision. Thanks to the approved funding, the previously inefficient livestock farming will be fundamentally professionalized. Measures include the purchase of a modern incubator for 2,000 eggs, ensuring the supply of medicine and feed, as well as intensive chick-rearing training. In addition to the structural investments, accompanying technical implementation will be provided for the critical early phase. This sustainably minimizes livestock losses and optimizes yield opportunities, ensuring that families gain permanent access to a secure income.
