With the grateful support of the Georg Kraus Foundation, this project in Laos has been successfully completed. The implementation was slightly delayed due to the heavy rainy season, which made the roads to the remote Viengkham Learning Centre impassable. Nevertheless, the completion was successfully achieved despite these challenges. The learning centre in Viengkham, located about 60 km east of Nong Khiaw, is an important educational facility for the local community and is used by over 200 students from the adjacent primary and nursery school. After Sebastian visited the centre in early 2025 and identified the urgent need for renovation—it had been neglected since its construction in 2010—the necessary improvements could be carried out. Thanks to the generous funding from the Georg Kraus Foundation, it was possible to completely renovate the centre and create a better learning environment for the children. The completed measures include the installation of a new storage room, laying of floor tiles, connecting the toilets to the water supply, renewing the library shelves, electrical repairs, and installing new fans. The building was also repainted inside and out, and the outdoor area was extended with new concrete to give the children more space. In addition to the structural improvements, we have also covered the costs for the teacher for one year. This allows our local partner to sustainably secure and improve the quality of education and care for the children. These comprehensive measures have helped to optimise the learning conditions, increase the centre's capacity, and ensure that the children in Viengkham now have access to high-quality education and development opportunities.
Through targeted funding, we have significantly supported the successful completion of these projects.
